Resolution varies for these panoramic images from 300 to 1000 dpi. Most are 600 dpi.
The first panoramic photographs taken in the 1840s through late 1800s were created by placing two or more daguerreotype plates side by side, and later on, special cameras were made for taking panoramic photos. These cameras achieved the effect by rotating the lens on the tripod.
The lines between plates that were visible in these gorgeous photographs have been removed in a painstaking, expert retouching process which has restored each photograph to its former majestic beauty. In addition, all the photos were carefully restored; this includes noise-reduction, levels and contrast corrected, shadows enhanced, highlights restored, and sharpened. Some, too, were delicately hand-recolored with a mezzotint effect for maximum impact.
We hope you enjoy these amazing pieces of art and history through the eyes of vintage panoramic lenses. They make utterly stunning fine art prints and are guaranteed to delight and inspire.
